About
the SKSA
The
Saskatchewan Katahdin Sheep Association Inc. (SKSA), incorporated in
1993, is a non-profit Association dedicated to the development,
advancement, and promotion of the Katahdin sheep breed.
The membership has steadily increased and grown from
its beginnings, with 6 original producers, to a full fledged
organization. Memberships provide producers with full voting privileges
and are available to owners of Canadian registered Katahdin Sheep.
Members benefit directly from SKSA promotions at
agricultural/trade shows throughout Saskatchewan where the Membership
Directory and breed information is distributed free of charge. Katahdin
producers manning the SKSA, display are eager to share their experiences
and answer questions. Katahdin lamb taste samples and live animal
displays are well-received by show visitors and potential potential
breeders alike. Shows to watch for include
The Canadian Western Agribition (November) all in
Regina, and shows in The Battlefords, Melfort and
Weyburn. Also stop by the SKSA display at the shows for a taste sample
of Katahdin Lamb, with "A Flavour To Savour."™
The
Saskatchewan Katahdin Sheep Association hosts two general meetings each
year providing an opportunity for a member exchange, informational
speaker, and policy planning session. Members are invited to informal
on-farm seminars with hands-on-training sessions. The Association
produces a quarterly newsletter, News for Ewes, a Membership Directory,
posters and informational brochures.
Membership forms are available upon request from the
Association secretary. Associate members are also welcome. Benefits are
the same as for regular members with the exception of voting privileges.
